Dunno about anyone else, but I feel close to despair at the news that Tripoli is now being bombed. I also don’t see how it’s meant to help anyone, but then hey, that’s why I’m not a politician.
Same here Polly.
‘Operation Odyssey Dawn’ ffs.
What I really don’t get is, if the international community cares so much about humanitarian issues, why haven’t they gone into Bahrain, or Saudi. Why didn’t they intervene in Sudan, or Darfur, or numerous other ‘hot spots’ over the years?
Because they’re not keeping us from their oil. I am really torn about this, because I heard a man in Tripoli being interviewed who said he welcomed the bombinb. I don’t think doing NOTHING was justified either. But then we let the situation build up for years and supported Gaddafi. I’d love the Libyans to get genuine democratic self rule, but I don’t see that happening. And I’m extremely sceptical about this particular intervention – why was Gaddafi not given more time to respond?
Anyway you missed one.
Bombing stuff rarely has any benefit to anybody except munitions makers.
And maybe the military boys so they can play with their high-tech toys.
Everyone else, not so much.

Especially the munitions makers. Now the European consortium that makes the hugely expensive Storm Shadow missile can add “tested in combat” to their glossy brochure for the next time they’re waving it under the nose of some braid-encrusted geezer in mirror aviator shades at an arms fair.
They must be opening the champagne in the offices of MBDA…
The king of Bahrain is coming to the royal wedding apparently.
Munitions makers’ slogan: “Making a killing out of war”.
